The Rusty Burner – 5K & 10K

Sunday 23rd August 2026 | Rusty Meadow, Godshill, Isle of Wight

The Rusty Burner is a brand new Isle of Wight trail run, set in the heart of the countryside at Rusty Meadow, Godshill.

This short but challenging route takes runners from Rusty Meadow up to the iconic Worsley Monument and back, delivering incredible views and a proper leg-burning experience.

With 738ft of elevation, this is not a flat or fast course, but it is one that rewards every step.

Choose your challenge:

  • 5K trail run (one loop)

  • 10K trail run (two loops)

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a new challenge, this is a run that’s as much about the experience as it is the finish line.

💛 A run with heart

The Rusty Burner has been created by the Rusty Meadow family to bring the Island running community together and support one of our own.

Many local runners will know Ian Robinson-Phenix, a familiar face at races, ultras and events across the Isle of Wight. Ian and his family are part of the Rusty Meadow community, and like many of you, we’ve stood on the sidelines cheering each other on over the years.

Following Ian’s diagnosis with lymphoma in September 2024, and as he continues treatment, this event is our way of doing what runners do best:

showing up, digging in, and supporting one of our own.

The event also supports Ian’s daughter, Laanii, who has been selected to represent the Isle of Wight and the UK at the World Scout Jamboree 2027, and is working hard to fundraise for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

🏃‍♂️ The route

This is a trail run on the Isle of Wight with a varied and natural course.

Runners can expect:

  • uneven ground

  • sustained climbs

  • very steep steps (mainly on the descent)

  • stiles along the route

The route to the Worsley Monument is known locally for its views and its challenge. If you’ve run it before, you’ll know what’s coming. If not, you’re in for something special.

  • Just a great challenge, good people, and a supportive atmosphere
