Welcome to Rusty Meadow, the Isle of Wight's bike-friendly pop-up campsite, sitting near both the Round the Island cycle route and the Red Squirrel Trail.
Whether you're tackling the full 62-mile loop, riding the traffic-free Red Squirrel Trail with the family, or just exploring the Island's country lanes, we're a natural overnight stop.
Three acres of field. £15 a night. Bike lock points. A sunset that's been described as showing off.
Best of all? We're a pop-up campsite so we are all about being flexible, friendly, with no faff. Book in advance or just turn up and pay by QR code. Arrive when it suits you. We trust you to find your pitch.
We’re just a 10-minute pedal from the Whitwell junction of the Round the Island route, so you don’t have to wobble too far off course to find us and be a few minutes from some rest, and a recharge under the stars.

On a cycle route through the Island? We're right on it
We sit on two of the Island's best cycling routes:
The Round the Island route — roughly the halfway point. Just up from the Whitwell junction. Perfect for splitting the 62-mile loop over two days, or basing yourself for a few days of Island riding.
The Red Squirrel Trail — passes right by us. Traffic-free, family-friendly, runs Cowes to Sandown via Newport, Sandown and Shanklin. Whether you're doing the full trail or just a section, we're a natural stop.
Distance from the ferries (rough riding times for loaded bikes):
Cowes (Red Funnel): about 12 miles
Yarmouth (Wightlink): about 17 miles
Fishbourne (Wightlink): about 14 miles
Ryde (Hovertravel): about 12 miles
Securing your bike for the night. We've just installed four bike lock points — a token effort but a proper one.
Bring your own lock and you're sorted. Otherwise lean it next to your tent or under cover.

Refuelling. Godshill village is a 10-minute walk for pub food, tea rooms and a small shop.

A simple wooden cabin for cyclists who don't fancy putting up a tent at the end of a long ride. Empty inside, just throw down your roll mat and sleeping bag.
Dry, secure, off the ground, no pegs, no poles, no arguments but the bonus of a bike lock.
Think of it as a bothy with better neighbours.
Perfect for one-night tourers, Round the Island riders splitting the loop, or anyone who's just had enough of tent admin for one day.

Cyclist FAQs
Can I book just one night? Yes. We're set up for one-nighters — perfect for tourers.
What time can I arrive? Check-in from 3pm, check-out 12pm.
Can I just turn up? Yes. Pay by QR code on arrival. The code is on the wall in the charging hut. We trust you. So far, so good.
Is my bike safe overnight? We've got four bike lock points, bring your own lock. Otherwise lean it next to your tent. Small, quiet site, no bike issues so far but we bikes are left anywhere on site at your own risk.
Is there food on site? No, but Godshill village is a 15-minute walk for pubs and tea rooms or the honesty hut has some food in it if you have bought your own cooking stuff!
Can I charge my e-bike? No sorry, our solar charging hut is USB and Type C only.
Is there somewhere to wash up?
Yes, we have a proper washing-up station with drinking water.
Do you take groups of riders? Up to 6 bikes no problem. More than that, WhatsApp us first please. We just ask that as a group you are just mindful of other campers.
